After raising a family, Mrs. Muenkel returned to the teaching profession as a third grade teacher here at Sacred Heart. In 1995, she transitioned to become the first grade teacher where reading and writing were the focus of the day - Once a reading teacher always a reading teacher. She also began to assume some administrative responsibilities, becoming a test coordinator and Chairperson for the Middle States Accreditation process.
In May 2010, Mrs. Muenkel completed her studies at Iona College and graduated with a Masters in Educational Leadership. She received the Iona College Educational Leadership Award for the Class of 2010 at graduation.
Mrs. Muenkel has been the principal of Sacred Heart School since September 2005.
Mrs. Muenkel truly believes that Catholic education is “the gift of a lifetime” for any child. She believes that every child can and will learn if the emphasis is on learning and not teaching. Education is a journey not a race with each child learning at a different pace. We as educators must provide a learning environment that meets this growing challenge.
